50501 has invited us to do crowd canvassing and also set up a table at their Flag Day event! This is really exciting because last time we went to their event, we got over 100 sign ups and really were able to bring in alot of new volunteers.
The folks at this event are very likeminded and should be a very fun crowd canvass for us. It is a great event for those who are brand new to crowd canvassing as most people will be eager to sign up!
Here's the plan:
Meet up prior: Meet at 10 AM at Stumptown Coffee Roaster. Get clipboard materials and go over plan for the day
Begin canvassing: At 10:30 AM we'll make our way down to the Battleship Memorial and start crowd canvassing. A good practice for us is to crowd canvass before and after speakers are done talking. This is to show respect to the organizers of the event
Event ends: Crowd canvassing will finish at 2PM. This is an extremely long crowd canvass and we acknowledge this. Please do not feel like you need to stay the entire time. Even a couple hours is fantastic.
Contact Person: Contact person will be Rebecca and she will be our lead canvasser. A text will be sent to you when you sign up with her contact info in case you need that on the day of canvassing.
A big thank you: HCAO wants to give a big thank you for anyone who shows up to this event. It's so integral and important to growing our movement and making universal healthcare a reality for Oregon. We could not do it without our engaged volunteers!
We recommend arriving around 10:30 a.m. to get set up. There’s not much involved, we will have the tables and chairs set up for you and we’ll have signs posted in the building to help you find the room.
We’re excited to share that Justice Rajee from the Urban League of Portland will be our spotlight speaker. He’ll speak from 12:00 to 1:00 p.m. about the Urban League’s work and how community members can connect with or support their programs.
We’ll also be offering free baked treats from Nana’s Exquisite Confections, a local Black-owned bakery.
Parking is free and plentiful, with a large lot available at the building.
We’ve attached a flyer to this email. Feel free to share it in any community spaces or with your networks. If you know of other organizations that might want to host a table, you’re welcome to pass along the registration link below:
